Chopped Constitution

Chopped Constitution

Initial governing document for VBP Fantasy Network chopped leagues.

Full Constitution

This page reflects the current working constitution for the chopped format and is intended to serve as the governing reference for current managers and prospective league members.

Chopped is designed as an elimination-style fantasy format where weekly survival matters as much as total scoring.

This constitution establishes the baseline structure, roster rules, scoring, eliminations, and commissioner authority for the format as it launches within the VBP Fantasy Network.

1. League Overview

  • League Name: VBP Chopped
  • League Type: Elimination Redraft
  • Platform: Sleeper
  • Communication: Discord and Sleeper
  • League Size: 18 Teams
  • League Goal: Survive weekly cuts and outlast the field

Chopped is an elimination-based fantasy football league. Managers begin the season as part of one large field and attempt to survive each scoring period by avoiding the weekly cut line.

This league uses Sleeper's general chopped league format with VBP-specific modifications outlined in this constitution.

The format rewards consistent scoring, weekly lineup management, and long-term roster planning under increasing pressure as the field narrows.

2. Quick League Summary

Chopped begins with 18 teams and gradually eliminates the lowest-performing teams during the season.

Managers set lineups normally each week on Sleeper using a redraft player pool.

Progressive PPR scoring is used across the league, with weekly standings determined strictly by that week's point total.

Chops begin in Week 1, with one team eliminated each week until only one team remains after Week 17.

The prize structure scales with the league buy-in so the same constitution can apply even if the entry fee changes from season to season.

3. League Structure

The chopped format operates as a single 18-team redraft league.

All managers draft from the same player pool and compete against the entire field each scoring week.

The league does not rely on traditional head-to-head matchups to determine survival. Weekly advancement is based on scored points and elimination rules.

If Sleeper scheduling or display mechanics require nominal weekly matchups, those matchups do not override the chopped elimination structure.

4. Season Flow and Eliminations

Each active team posts a weekly score based on its starting lineup.

Chops begin in Week 1.

At the conclusion of each NFL scoring week from Week 1 through Week 17, one team is chopped from title contention.

Once a team is chopped, that team is eliminated from championship eligibility.

Because the league starts with 18 teams and removes one team per week, one surviving team remains after Week 17 and is declared league champion.

The chopped team each week is the team with the lowest weekly score among all teams still alive in the format.

No elimination result becomes official until Sleeper stat corrections for that scoring period are finalized.

5. Rosters and Lineups

6. Scoring

Chopped uses a Progressive PPR scoring model.

PositionReception Points
RB0.5
WR0.25
TE0.75

All other scoring categories follow the same standard scoring structure used across the VBP Fantasy Network unless league settings are explicitly announced before the draft.

Sleeper stat corrections are final and binding for elimination purposes.

7. Waivers and Player Pool

Waivers use a FAAB system for the full season.

Each team receives $200 in FAAB.

There is no minimum bid requirement, and $0 bids are allowed.

Once a team has been chopped, that team will be locked from further transactions in order to prevent accidental adds, drops, or other unintended roster moves.

When a team is chopped, Sleeper's chopped format will release that roster to the waiver wire for the remaining teams to bid on.

Waivers will process at 12:00 PM CST on Tuesday and 12:00 PM CST on Wednesday.

After Wednesday's waiver run, unclaimed players become free agents.

The commissioner may also restrict transactions in response to inactivity, collusion, platform abuse, or other integrity issues if additional action is needed to preserve league integrity.

8. Trades

Trades are allowed.

There is no trade deadline unless Sleeper platform settings require one for league operation.

All trade activity remains subject to commissioner review for collusion, roster dumping, or format abuse.

Trades will not be vetoed merely because a deal appears uneven.

The commissioner may intervene only when a trade clearly damages league integrity or undermines the competitive structure of the chopped format.

9. Tiebreakers

If two or more teams tie for the lowest score in Week 1, all tied teams on the chop line will be chopped.

If multiple teams are chopped in Week 1 because of a tie, no team will be chopped in Week 2.

Beginning in Week 3 and continuing for the rest of the season, ties on the elimination line are broken by total season points through that week.

The team with the higher total season points loses the tiebreaker and is chopped.

If a future tie remains unresolved even after comparing total season points, the commissioner will apply Sleeper's official platform result if one exists. Otherwise, the commissioner will document and resolve the tie publicly in league communication.

10. Buy-In and Prize Pool

The final buy-in amount for each chopped league season will be announced before league payment collection begins.

League dues will be collected and distributed through LeagueSafe.

Prize payouts scale with the league buy-in so the format can keep the same structure even if the entry fee changes from season to season.

2nd Place2 x Buy-In
3rd PlaceBuy-In + $5

The additional $5 for third place is intended to offset LeagueSafe withdrawal fees so the manager effectively receives their buy-in back.

11. Competitive Integrity

Managers are expected to set a complete and competitive lineup every week while their team remains active.

Intentionally leaving lineup spots empty, ignoring obvious inactive players, or taking actions designed to distort the elimination field is prohibited.

If a manager becomes inactive, the commissioner may issue a warning, restrict transactions, replace the manager, or set a competitive lineup using the best reasonable projection available.

Because chopped is an elimination format, lineup negligence late in the season can materially affect the outcome for the remaining teams and will be treated seriously.

12. Commissioner Authority

The commissioner has authority to interpret and enforce this constitution in good faith.

This includes resolving platform limitations, correcting administrative errors, enforcing lineup integrity, and applying the elimination structure consistently if Sleeper's default league mechanics do not fully reflect the chopped format.

The commissioner may not alter the elimination schedule, scoring system, or payout model after the draft except where required to correct a platform failure or preserve league operation.

13. Rule Changes

Rule changes for future chopped seasons may be proposed in the offseason.

Material changes should be announced before league renewal or new-season recruitment begins.

Once the draft begins, this constitution and any pre-draft published league settings control the season.
